That includes things like different console hardware giving better specs ala the PS4 Pro/Series X versus S within the same hardware cycle, the consolidation of multiplayer spaces and identities, the embrace of mouse and keyboard on console, less of an emphasis on developer curated experiences and more of a focus on "the end-user must decide".

Really, I'm against the overall increasingly PC nature of the console space in general, which is what MS is pushing for (and really, the entire video game playing sphere lets be real here).

Why would I, a person who is currently playing on a big, 60hz TV from a distance with a controller, want to be playing Halo multiplayer against people sitting right in front of high refresh monitors sitting at desks? Like, why would I want this? If I wanted to be in that pool of players, I'd straight up play on PC. Then, mainly just super high frames on high quality monitors is surely a big advantage, let alone the general difference in average personal setups with the difference between consoles/PC's.

If I cannot limit my matchmaking to the Xbox ecosystem only, then it's incredibly disappointing to me.Ĭlick to shrink.Well for one, this blog post (and I could be wrong here) says that social playlists are free reign input-device wise, which I am straight-up against, I don't care if controllers have advantages in certain realms of the design (close range playing nicer for aim assist) and mice have advantages in others (something like precision sniping/responding to players more quickly approaching from behind) if I'm on a controller I want to be playing with controller players across all realms of the game's multiplayer suite, not just being pigeon-holed into Ranked if I want guaranteed controller vs. I'm saying, I play games on a console to play with other console players, not to play against PC owners. Yeah, the playerbase number wise will benefit from this, but anyone like me who wants to play the game on Xbox against other Xbox owners only is just SOL. But I don't want to do that, I want to play it on Xbox against Xbox controller players.īasically, it's either, don't give a fuck about player parity in the game, or if it's such a big thing, then invest in a good performance PC and go all in.Įssentially, why would anyone who cares about relative equitability in player hardware setups play in a space where they will be, by default, in a more limited structure. That if I wanted to have way more control/personal advantage of others on my end, I'd build a kitted PC and play it on there. Sure, nowadays there's plenty of variables that console players can alter that can give them an edge over other console players, namely more modern monitors/tv sets that have faster refresh rates, controllers with paddles (and now M&KB apparently), and good headphones/soundsystems, but it's not to the extent as the PC space where there's a myriad of things that can significantly deviate one person's experience with the game from one player to another.

It's just that if I'm playing a competitive multiplayer game, I prefer to play it within a more controlled environment rather than one where the end-user has much more flexibility to control their and others experience with the game.

I think the game will look and play great, regardless of the platform. If I cannot limit my matchmaking to the Xbox ecosystem only, then it's incredibly disappointing to me.
